Proudly steeped in history, Paxton & Whitfield is the UK’s oldest cheesemonger (and an official supplier to the British royal family, don’t you know). With iconic cheese shops dotted across the country, they wanted to unify their online and offline experience, so customers could shop seamlessly across channels.
But their legacy Shopware platform held them back, limiting both the user experience and functionality.
With a complex product catalogue, intricate fulfilment workflows and a growing subscription base, Paxton & Whitfield needed a modern ecommerce platform that could handle it all. Enter: Shopify Plus, the key to elevating their digital presence.
We migrated Paxton & Whitfield to Shopify Plus, unlocking a flexible and scalable platform that’s ready to support their ambitious omnichannel strategy.
We overhauled the user experience to deliver a sharp, more logical customer journey, with custom fulfilment workflows to handle weighted cheeses, curated hampers and premium gifting.
Shopify Gift Cards, Click & Collect and Yotpo Subscriptions enhance their omnichannel experience, while the tiered Cheese Club subscription box invites customers to curate their perfect cheese experience.
With a legacy dating back to 1742, Paxton & Whitfield certainly know a thing or two about cheese.
Their ecommerce operation had been running on Shopware, but with the platform approaching end-of-life, and the restrictions it placed on their online strategy, making the move to Shopify Plus just made sense.
The data migration process was complex yet flawlessly executed. It included carrying across their extensive product range, including single cheeses, cut cheeses, kitted products, seasonal offerings and experiential products. We designed the PDPs to better communicate product types and features, and added a flexible delivery date selector that offers more control over shipping preferences.
The new platform enhances both the customer experience and backend operations, with improved UI, UX and content management capabilities. The result: a modern ecommerce experience worthy of the UK’s most iconic cheesemonger.
